Thân cái cò lặn lội.
Bodies like herons traveling over hill and dale.
Vụt! chiếc xe hơi qua.
Whoosh! a car passes
Bảnh bao trên mấy bà
Spic and span with ladies aboard
Vàng đeo và lụa đắp,
Gold necklaces, bedecked in silk
Lộng lẫy như tiên nga!
Resplendent like the immortals!
Chị em khen nức nở
The girls praise with sobs
Rằng: "Các bà kẻ chợ,
Saying: "The ladies of the big town,
Chẳng biết tu kiếp nào?
They must have entered the temple in another life?
Đời sao sung sướng lạ!"
How can life be so strangely joyful!"
Đài các, tấm thân nhàn,
Snobbish, idles bodies
Ăn trắng lại mặc trơn.
Immaculate in dress, so smooth
Số chị em quê kệch,
It's our fate to be coarse,
Quả họ sung sướng hơn.
Obviously they're happier
Nhưng làm kẻ phú quý
Yet being of wealth and position
Sống không lo, không nghĩ.
Living without worries
Thân tầm gửi bám chồng
